Two Notorious Bike Thieves Arrested for Stealing from Wedding Ceremony

  • Stolen Motorcycle Recovered from Their Possession.

  • One Arrested Accused is a History-Sheeter, Previously Banned from Lucknow District.

Lucknow: On April 27, 2025, a complaint was lodged by  Dheeraj Verma, son of Shivnath Verma, resident of Nevazpur Dasauli, Police Station Gudumba, Lucknow, regarding the theft of his motorcycle, a TVS Apache bearing registration number UP32 PJ0850, by unknown thieves. A case was registered under Crime No. 354/2025, Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the local police station.

During the investigation, on the night of April 28, 2025, a reliable informant provided information that the individuals involved in the theft of motorcycle UP32PJ0850 were present at Dhodhan Kheda crossing, intending to commit a serious crime.

Subsequently, a police team from Police Station Sushant Golf City conducted a raid and apprehended two accused individuals from near Dhodhan Kheda crossing: 1. Sunil Kumar alias Phuka alias Anshu alias Baba, son of Raj Bahadur, resident of Gram Udaipur, Police Station Nigoha, District Lucknow, aged 30 years, and 2. Hansraj, son of Gajraj, resident of Gram Bhavakheda, Police Station Mohanlalganj, District Lucknow, aged 23 years. The police recovered the stolen motorcycle, bearing registration number UP32PJ0850, a black TVS Apache with chassis number MD637GE53P2P02827 and engine number GESPP2202740, from their possession.

Upon inquiry, it was learned that the owner of the stolen motorcycle UP32PJ0850 TVS Apache,  Dheeraj Verma, son of Shivnath Verma, resident of Nevazpur Dasauli, Police Station Gudumba, Lucknow, had parked his vehicle around 09:00 PM on April 26, 2025, to attend the wedding ceremony of the sister of Bhola Dwivedi, son of Ram Kumar, in Gram Ghuswal Kala Sector 4, near Mandakini Enclave. When the complainant returned after the ceremony, he found his vehicle stolen by unknown thieves, leading to the registration of the aforementioned case.

Based on the recovery, Section 317(2) of the BNS was added to the existing case. The arrested accused, Sunil Kumar alias Phuka alias Anshu alias Baba and Hansraj, were presented before the court following due legal procedures around 03:25 AM.

Interrogation Details:

During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing the Apache motorcycle on April 26, 2025, from a wedding ceremony in Bada Ghuswal. Sunil Kumar and Hansraj stated that they steal motorcycles to fulfill their desires and admitted to their crime. Both accused were found to be involved in promoting criminal conspiracy and committing theft, which is a punishable offense under Sections 303(2)/317(2) BNS.

Upon questioning about another motorcycle found near the accused, a Glamour bearing registration number UP32FB0605, accused Sunil stated that the bike belonged to his father, Raj Bahadur, and was used in the commission of the theft. When asked to produce the vehicle’s documents, they failed to do so. The Glamour motorcycle bearing registration number UP32FB0605 was seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that accused Sunil Kumar is a history-sheeter (HS NO. 36 A) at Police Station Nigoha and had been declared a “Gunda” (rowdy element) under Section 3(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. He was also externed (district banishment) from Lucknow district for six months, from November 1, 2023.
